Air Stair Truck

This early 1970s Ford air stair truck has a fascinating history, and continues to make news. This is the well-known Airport Group International truck used to board the Concorde when it arrived in Atlanta in 1986.

We received a tip from a visitor that this truck was rotting away in the weeds only 5 miles from the museum. After months of research, we were able to find and acquire the truck, hauling it out of the woods in August of 2011. Mere months after it arrived at our permanent lot, and before we could even begin restoration, she was used as a prop in the pilot for NBC’s hit series “Revolution.” As a nod to her movie career, we have left the improvements made to her exterior including her stickers “O’Hare” as the story took place in post-apocalyptic Chicago.
